What Stepwell accesses

• Physical Activity / Activity Recognition: Stepwell uses your device's activity and step-sensor capabilities to count your steps. This information is used to provide your step count and activity statistics.
• Health Connect (if enabled): If you choose to grant Health Connect access, Stepwell may read available step information to help maintain accurate activity totals. Health data is used only for the app's activity features.
• Notifications: If you grant notification permission, Stepwell can send locally scheduled reminders, streak alerts, daily reports, goal celebrations, and achievement notifications.
• Age, weight, and height: Information you optionally enter is used to personalize estimated calorie and distance calculations and to improve step-length estimation.
• Device restart: Where supported by the operating system, Stepwell may use background/startup capabilities so step tracking can resume after your device restarts.

How your data is stored

Stepwell stores your activity history, streaks, achievements, goals, profile settings, and related preferences locally on your device.

The current version does not require an account and does not upload your step history to a Stepwell server.

Advertising

Stepwell is free to use and may display advertisements through Google AdMob. AdMob is a third-party advertising service and may process information according to Google's own privacy policies and applicable settings.

Stepwell also offers an optional one-time purchase to remove advertisements.

What Stepwell does not do

• No account required: You can use Stepwell without creating a Stepwell account.
• No Stepwell activity backend: Stepwell does not upload your step history to its own server in the current version.
• No GPS tracking: Stepwell does not require GPS or location tracking to count your steps.
• No sale of activity data: Stepwell does not sell your step history or profile information.
• No wearable required: Stepwell's core step tracking is designed to work using supported phone sensors.

Notifications

Notifications are optional. If enabled, Stepwell can use them to remind you about your daily goal, warn you when a streak may be at risk, provide daily activity summaries, and notify you when achievements are unlocked.

These notifications are scheduled by the app on your device and do not require a Stepwell push-notification account.

Data deletion

You can remove your locally stored Stepwell data using the data-reset option available in the app, where provided. You can also remove locally stored app data through your device's Android settings or by uninstalling Stepwell.

Because the current version does not maintain a Stepwell account or cloud activity database, there is no Stepwell server account that needs to be deleted.

Third-party services

Stepwell may use third-party platform services required for functionality or advertising, including Google AdMob and Android platform services such as Health Connect when you choose to use them.

Those services operate under their own privacy policies and terms. Stepwell does not control how third-party services process information.

Children's privacy

Stepwell is a general health and fitness application and is not primarily designed for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through a Stepwell account because Stepwell does not require an account for its core features.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as Stepwell's features or services change. When we make changes, the updated policy will be published at this same URL and the "Last updated" date will be changed accordingly.
